South Dakota Law Enforcement Training
JOB TASK ANALYSIS PROJECT

Thank you for logging on to complete this study and for your daily efforts to keep the families of South Dakota safe. Being a law enforcement officer is challenging, and your work is both recognized and appreciated.

As part of our continuing commitment to training South Dakota’s law enforcement professionals, the results of this Job Task Analysis (JTA) will help us develop new or validate current Basic Law Enforcement Certification Course (BLECC) training content and ensure in-service programs are properly designed and focused.

The questionnaires that follow ask officers with 5 years or less of law enforcement experience to identify how often they perform policing tasks. Senior officers, or those officers with 6 years or more of policing experience, as well as supervisors, managers and executives will rate how critical each task is and when it should be learned. These responses will help determine what BLECC needs to teach and what skills should be covered in in-service, advanced, or on-the-job training.

The questionnaire will take you approximately 1-2 hours to complete. For your convenience, you can enter and exit as needed. Your last completed page will be saved so you can pick up right where you left off each time.

You may begin by clicking the "Continue" button below. Please answer candidly and completely, as your input will play a direct role in developing the requirements for basic and advanced training programs for law enforcement in South Dakota for years to come.

Thank you.
